The significance of art

Art is, in many ways, seen as a means of creating an expression or emotion. Fine but limiting. Art is an instrument of conveying so much more than the immediacy of our thoughts.

Look to the many skills that have developed over centuries, cultures and traditions and then you begin to see that values and 'cultural norms' start to dictate what should be seen and in which style or genre. So, not much has changed once you realise that the idea of change itself is always a continuum and that each change is heralded as something new, if not a worrisome new that someone needs to explain.

I suggest that whatever you do as an artist is often categorised and labelled, so really, why worry.

Cheers for now,

JB
